The path
Note to filing, in five steps
- 01
Step 1: A private note
You write from a personal device. Say what you know in your own words. The names of the company and people can wait for the call.
- 02
Step 2: The first phone call
A lawyer calls at the time and number you choose. We listen first and ask questions second.
- 03
Step 3: A records review
If it may be a case, we look at what you have and what you can lawfully keep, and ask a specialist to read it with us.
- 04
Step 4: A yes, or a plain no
We tell you what we think, in writing. If we decline, we say why and which deadlines to mind.
- 05
Step 5: What gets filed
A sealed complaint, an agency tip or a retaliation claim, depending on the facts. You decide each step.
Before your first note
- Use a personal phone, a personal email and a network that is not your employer's.
- Do not forward company files to yourself, and do not take anything marked privileged.
- Do not confront anyone, and do not discuss it with coworkers.
- Write down dates and names today, in your own words, somewhere your employer cannot see.
Send the note. Nothing starts yet.
A first note takes five minutes and starts nothing you cannot stop.
Contingency fees come from any recovery. Costs such as filing and expert fees may be separate; we explain them in writing before you sign.
